Saxaphonist Alex Toth will be performing his senior recital at First United Methodist Church, Friday evening, June 2 at 7 p.m. Toth’s saxophone teacher Dr. Max Plank will be featured at the concert, and Dr. Liz Ames will be the accompanist.

Toth graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School on May 22 and his name may be a familiar one in Chelsea where his proud dad, Ed Toth, is chief of the Chelsea Police Department.

Alex is the youngest of Ed and Janice Toth’s two sons.

“Alex is a very hard worker, who is dedicated,” said Janice Toth. “He sets his goals and works to accomplish them.”

He earned first chair of the saxophone section in the Michigan All State Band and the Michigan Youth Arts Honors Band. He was recognized by the Detroit News as a 2017 Outstanding High School Graduate and received numerous scholarships.

Alex will be attending Central Michigan University in the fall where he will be a music education and performance major.

“Alex plans on pursuing a masters and doctorate in performance, eventually teaching at a university,” said his mom.

The First United Methodist Church is located at 128 Park St. The June 2 performance is open to everyone and will be followed by a reception.
