The Chelsea Farmers Market takes place each Saturday from 8-1 p.m. in the Palmer lot.

Chelsea Update is profiling vendors at the Chelsea Farmers Market and this week, it’s Heaven’s Gate Soy Candles.

The first thing Ryann Eff would like you to know about the soy candles he sells is that that soy is 100-percent environmentally friendly and a 100-percent renewable resource that “burns long and clean.”

Eff is part of the family business Heaven’s Gate Soy Candles, which is based in Lambertville, MI. near the Ohio border.

“Our candles are a good investment for your money,” said Eff, who is a vendor at both the Saturday and Wednesday Chelsea Farmers Market. “Our 16-ounce candle will burn for 200 hours. Soy is catching on in educated towns like Chelesa.”

Their biggest seller is Drunken Mosquito, which includes lime, margarita mix, and citronella in its ingredients and keeps the insects away. It comes in both a candle and a spray as do some of their other products.

They hand pour everything.

“We pride ourselves on fragrances and essential oils, and we can recycle all of our products,” said Eff. “If you try our candles and don’t like them, we are happy to refund your money.”

Heaven’s Gate Soy Candles uses vanilla in many of its candles, and they offer a number of fragrances from fruits to florals.

“We like being part of the Chelsea Farmers Markets because Chelsea supports its local vendors and is community oriented,” said Eff.

Below is the list of vendors who are expected to be there. Please keep in mind that sometimes the vendors aren’t able to attend the market and that planned products are not available.
