On Saturday, June 6 at 9 a.m. many kids will again seek to challenge themselves by taking part in the 3rd Chelsea Aquatic Club Kids Triathlon. This event is open to all kids aged 6-14.

Kids new to the sport and some more experienced athletes, but everyone, of all athletic abilities is welcome. The focus of this event is enjoyment  and we hope kids will learn skills and develop healthy exercise habits that will last a lifetime.

Each year, over 100 kids from Washtenaw County, surrounding counties and even from as far away as Canada crossed the finish line with smiles and a huge sense of accomplishment. Triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports for children, and our goal is for Chelsea to be known for encouraging healthy habits for kids.

The race consists of three parts – a swim in the pool at Beach Middle School, a bike race on a course that will run from Beach to Chelsea High School and back and a run on the middle school grounds.

Children aged 6-10 years will swim 100 yards, bike approximately 3 miles and run 0.5 miles.

Children aged 11-14 years will swim 200 yards, bike approximately 6 miles and run a mile.

Parents and friends can get a great view of the kids during the swim, at the start and finish of the bike run, during transition when the kids switch between each leg of the race, during the run and at the finish line.

All kids will finish by running through a large inflatable arch, encouraged by cheering fans. There will be ribbons for all finishers, awards and post-race complimentary snacks.
