Kiwanis Club Learns about the Legacy Land Conservancy

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Katrina Folsum and Larry Doll, from Legacy Land Conservancy described the many ways land owners may use Legacy to create a conservation easement, which preserves the property in its current condition.

It’s was especially useful for Larry’s father, Don, who wanted their farm to remain in one piece. His thought was to avoid trouble and possible breakup and sale of the land upon his death. His children, Larry and siblings, now have a clear path to follow their father’s wishes.

Legacy also owns 6 nature preserves, open to the public, received as donations and open for the community to enjoy. Closest to Chelsea is Sharon Hills, north of Manchester on the east side of Sharon Hollow Rd between Washburn and Walker Rds. Next closest is Beckwith in Stockbridge on Clinton Road across from the high school.

More information can be found at [email protected].

The club normally meets each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis. Go to www.kiwanisclubofchelsea.org for more information.
