The Lima Township Board approved all meeting dates for 2017 at its Dec. 12 meeting. Those dates can soon be found on the township website- twp-lima.org (and on Chelsea Update so you can mark your new 2017 calendars).

The board unanimously approved the retention of all appointed members to their board positions that expire 12-31-16. The only exception is that newly elected board member Duane Luick will become the representative to SEMCOG (Southeast Michigan Council of Governments) with Greg Mackenzie serving as the alternate.

In other action, the board unanimously approved a motion to allow Dexter Builders six months to put up “festoons” as long as they are kept in good condition. The business was directed to display no more than six, and that the company comes back to the board for reconsideration after the six-month period ends.

There is a township ordinance that limits the types of flags and yard signs, and Zoning Administrator Tom Caplis told the board that there were three separate displays in Lima Township, one of which belonged to Dexter Builders. The other two owners of displays did not attend the Dec.12 meeting.

Clerk Elaine Bater proposed keeping payroll in house by downloading a payroll system rather than outsourcing payroll, which the board unanimously approved.

In other action, the board unanimously approved publishing the township’s master plan update and also approved the 2017 Chelsea Area Fire Authority Budget.
