The Chelsea Golf Team competed in regional play on Thursday, June 1 at Willow Metro Park.
The course shouldn’t play as tough as it did, but there is a lot of trouble, and we found plenty of it, said coach Joe Ewald.
“We didn’t play great as a team, and unfortunately, playing just ok wasn’t good enough,” he said.
The Bulldogs shot a 341, and finished fifth out of 19 teams assigned to our region. Scoring for The Bulldogs were Lucas Derosia with a 78, Preston Ewald 82, Kurt Jolly 88, and Tyler Emmert with a 93.
At regionals, the top 3 teams, and the top 3 Individuals that are not on one of the qualifying teams, advance it to the state meet.
Gross Isle, Trenton, and South Lyon East all qualified.
Derosia was the low score of the individual qualifiers, securing him for a spot at the state meet.
Preston Ewald was in a 3-man playoff for the other two remaining individual spots, but came up short after 4 holes.
