March 13: Chelsea Area Historical Society meeting and Welfare Building tour

Join the Chelsea Area Historical Society for a tour of one of the most beautiful buildings in Chelsea – the Welfare Building – on March 13 at 7 p.m.

HK Leonard and Greg Raye, owners and proprietors of both the Chelsea Farmers Supply and the Welfare Building, who will be talking to the group about the architecture and rich history of the building.

For many years, it was the home of the Chelsea Standard newspaper.  Leonard’s parents were the owners and editors of the Chelsea Standard for 48 years.

The group will meet at the Train Depot at 7 p.m. for a business meeting and the presentation, then everyone will walk over to the Welfare Building for a personal tour of the building, which includes a look at one of the original printing presses from its newspaper days.

If you have mobility issues, you can drive over to the Welfare Building after the initial meeting at The Depot.
