March 14: Chelsea Kiwanis to hear from Peace Corps volunteers

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Last week, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from Julie Nelson and Heather Mills from Sitting Tall Cracker Jack Camp. Saturday mornings this summer, the camp provides free therapeutic horseback riding for kids and adults with disabilities.  The camp is on Trist Road in Grass Lake, and has been operating for 10 years with generous donations of time, treasure and calm, friendly horses. It can make a great difference in the lives of the participants.

This Monday, the club will hear from Dan Marthey and Dasha Dokshina who both served in the Peace Corps. They will speak about their adventures and the rewards of service to others.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy-Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Have you marked your calendar for the arrival of the Easter Bunny at the Chelsea Retirement Community for the Kiwanis Annual Easter Egg Hunt? The event is sponsored by Chelsea High School Key Club and Kiwanis and will be held the day before Easter this year on March 26.

The Easter Bunny will begin the festivities at 9:30 a.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis and click www.kiwanisclubofchelsea.org for more information.
