March 31: Chelsea Kiwanis Club, Key Club to host annual Easter Egg Hunt

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

On Saturday, March 31, the Chelsea High School Key Club will hold the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Chelsea Retirement Community beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Children may visit with the Easter Bunny beginning at 9:30 a.m. on the front lawn. Then the bunny will signal each of three age groups, beginning with the youngest, to begin hunting for those eggs. There will be a treat in each egg, and some will have a slip of paper which can be exchanged for a prize.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy the fun.

Chelsea Kiwanis Club members heard from Emily Griswold, Chelsea Farmers Market manager last week. She was a vendor at the Wednesday Chelsea Farmers Market for five years until assuming the market manager’s role. She comes from many generations of farmers on the same land just north of town.

This year she told members both the Wednesday and Saturday markets will be the same organization. She expects to have a combined logo/brand soon. The market has six different programs to enable those in need get healthy produce at reduced or no cost, a great benefit for the community.

On April 28 is the Annual Farmers Market Fundraiser at Chelsea First United Methodist Church from 10 a.m.- noon where a delicious brunch will be served. All proceeds go to food education and demonstrations throughout the market season.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
