Caring for a loved one in need – whether it’s a parent with unique medical needs or a spouse with advancing dementia – can be exhausting. But it’s a necessity and sometimes you need a helping hand.

And that’s where Breeda Miller’s “Finding Humor and Grace in the Caregiver Sandwich” comes into play. On Tuesday, May 19, at Silver Maples of Chelsea at 6 p.m., Miller will present a free entertaining and inspiring program that will reach caregivers and their families.

A successful executive, mother of three (two with special needs) and caregiver to her frail mother (including hospice care), Miller has an ability to find humor in the most unlikely places and to use it as an extraordinary coping tool.  She’s especially good at reaching out the “sandwich generation,” those who find themselves caring for both a parent while raising children.

According to the Pew Research Center, one of every eight Americans between the ages of 40 and 60 fall into this situation.

Christina Kim, director of marketing for Silver Maples of Chelsea, who is hosting the program, first met Miller at a conference. Right away, Kim connected with Miller’s engaging and inspiring personality.

“The more we talked and the more I heard about her humorous way of coping with the stresses of caregiving, the more I realized that we needed to share her wit and charm with a bigger audience,” Kim said.

She encourages anyone who finds themselves in the caregiver role to come to the program.

“We’ve heard that many walk away from her program feeling rejuvenated and inspired to handle difficult situations differently. I think it’s going to be a fun evening.”

The program is free and open to everyone and will be held at Silver Maples of Chelsea, 100 Silver Maples Dr. Space is limited, so please reserve your seat, by calling (734) 475-4111 or emailing [email protected].
