New women’s book club forming

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Jennifer Kundak for the information in this story.)

A new woman’s book group is forming in Washtenaw County, which will rotate locations through the year.

Sponsored by the Planned Parenthood Activist Network, this non-library program will be held at the Chelsea District Library on Saturday Feb. 28, from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., in the McKune Room and the book will be “Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions,” by Gloria Steinem.

Even if you don’t identify as a feminist, but have an interest in participating, all will be welcome.

Here’s the description on the library website: The Planned Parenthood Activist Network Book Club is a monthly book club for those in Washtenaw County and the surrounding area. Books can be fiction or non-fiction, but should be feminist in nature.

Anyone in the community can join.

The book club is a space for community members to engage in discussion about feminism, reproductive justice, and other issues affecting women. Books are chosen by member suggestion. Members are encouraged to choose to lead discussions, but this isn’t necessary to join. While childcare isn’t provided, members should feel free to bring their children.

The group also needs a fun new name, and any ideas are welcome.
