Customers and consignors at Shabby Chic need to know that the consignment store, currently located at Oak Tree Plaza, will be moving and changing its name at the end of April.

The new location will be 104 East Middle St. (in the old police station building) and the new name will be Moran’s Consignment, the last name of owner Stephanie Moran, who hopes the newly located store will be ready to open on May 1.

“I decided to relocate because we’re outgrowing our current space,” explained Moran. “My lease ended here and 104 E. Middle became available. The timing was perfect.”

She says that she is very excited to be moving downtown and thinks it will be great for business. She has gotten positive feedback from her customers and consignors about the move.

“I am hoping for more foot traffic and I’m really looking forward to community events such as the CROP and Sculpture Walks, Sounds and Sights and Summer Fest, parades, and of course, Wine, Women and Shopping,” said Moran.

The new space is larger and will allow for the possibility of carrying men’s clothing, sometihing she hopes to do in the future. Moran looks forward to designing the layout. There will be an entrance from East Middle Street and a rear entrance through the alleyway.

Joe Ziolkowski, who owns the Middle Street building that will house Moran’s Consignment, says, “I think the consignment store will be an excellent new business to be downtown.”

Ziolkowski says the other half of that building’s space is still available.

Moran will continue to take spring consignments at the current location until April 27. The store will be closed on April 28, 29 and 30.

As of May 1, you can contact Stephanie at [email protected] and you’ll be able to click here for the store’s website. The telephone number is 734-433-9730.

Moran says, “I was born and raised in Chelsea and I’ve lived here my whole life. I feel very honored to own a small business in my hometown.”
