Oct. 17: Meet local author Sharon Kegerreis at book signing at Breathe Yoga

Michigan-Apples-book-coverLocal author Sharon Kegerreis recently released a new book titled “Michigan Apples History and Tradition” just in time for apple season.

And, she’ll be at Breathe Yoga, 104 E. Middle St., on Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m. for “Core” Yoga class, a book reading and signing.

“The new 2015 Michigan Apples book is a perfect companion to the fall season,” Kegerreis says in a press release, adding, “The book features Michigan’s French heritage of the 1700s and Detroit’s vibrant orchard past, and reveals the significant role of the apple in pioneer settlements.”

The local author has written two previous books on Michigan wine and spent a year researching how “the non-native sweet apple was first planted in Michigan,” according to the press release.

She traveled 5,000 miles and interviewed apple farmers and industry experts as well as researched historic journals, societies, newspapers and books.

(Publisher’s note: I am in possession of a copy of the book that I look forward to reading and reviewing in the near future.)
