Legacy Land Conservancy will hold informal presentations and Q and A sessions for landowners in the Huron River Watershed at Lyndon Township Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 7-9 p.m. and at Dexter Township Hall on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 7-9 p.m.

Folks are invited to bring questions about protecting land, the role of land protection in safeguarding the watershed’s water quality, financial or tax benefits related to land protection, or Legacy’s many projects in Jackson and Washtenaw counties.

“When we get these conversations started, we learn from landowners, too,” says Meghan Prindle, landowner and community outreach coordinator at Legacy. “Each piece of land has its own unique story. Once we hear your story, we’ll work together to ensure your legacy is protected for generations to come,” she says.

Our region is known for stunning scenic highways, clean water for drinking and recreation, accessibility to first-rate public parks and private preserves, a bounty of wildlife, and cultural roots that run deep. The Huron River watershed is rich in natural features and special places, and enjoys a designation as the cleanest urban river in Michigan.

“Landowners in the Huron River watershed know that their land is important on a personal level,” Prindle says, “and it’s also important to our neighbors, our community, the region, and future generations who will live here. We can help private landowners preserve the quality of the land they cherish and hold for the next landowner.”
