Parent picks up bus drivers’ tab at Coney Island

Chelsea District School bus drivers were surprised by a parent at Coney Island restaurant on Tuesday morning.

Several of the drivers stopped by Coney Island for breakfast and someone paid for all of their meals.

Director of Transportation Services Jeff Knasiak told Superintendent Andy Ingall, “I wanted to let you know, the drivers went to the Coney Island this morning for breakfast and a parent anonymously paid for everyone’s meal.”

He said the wait staff was told to let the drivers know how much the community appreciates what they do.”

The bus drivers would like to thank this person for his or her generosity and appreciation.

  1. I love living in a place where things like this happen.

Thank you, bus drivers, for your willingness to serve this community’s families – for getting up in the wee hours of the morning, for the efforts you make to inspect your vehicles each day, for keeping your eyes and ears open and your wits about you to get our children safely to school and back. You are not told often enough how much we appreciate you.
