Psyched Out: how to teach your child about private discussions

By Kristin Krarup-Joyce

Dear Chelsea Community:

Have you ever had a conversation with your child about a sensitive topic only to have your child repeat your conversation to someone outside of your family?

Some families like to keep things private; others don’t mind if the whole world knows their business.

I recently found a nice resource from Intervention Central that will help you and your child sort out what is socially acceptable to say to certain groups – family, friends, teachers, authority figures, and strangers.

Hopefully, this activity will also give you the opportunity to explain why there are certain things that you need to keep in your family.
