Publisher’s message: I learn something new about the people of Chelsea every day

I’ve never made made a secret of the fact that I love Chelsea.

Every day, I try my hardest to acknowledge all the wonderful people, events and groups that make this such a special place. So, in December, I wrote this story — a message to city employees, which thanked and acknowledged all the people who work so hard to make this such a great place to live.

Well, this week I learned that I inadvertently missed my opportunity to also thank a small group of equally dedicated folks, who go through training and then volunteer their time at large events, which take place throughout the year in Chelsea.

These folks are called Police Reserve Officers. And, you’ve probably seen them out and about at the Chelsea Community Fair, Hometown Holiday Parade, high school basketball and football games, and perhaps even at some of the local races such as the Heart and Sole run and the Run for the Rolls.

They are: Rodney Schneider, Steve Jaskot, Mike Poxson, Matt Cole, and Bill Regnier.

So, the next time you see any of them around town, please thank them for their efforts as well.

They deserve acknowledgment, too.
