Thursday will be a very exciting day for Chelsea Update.

A few weeks after learning that this one-person news operation was chosen as the 2014 Small Business Leadership Award winner by the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, the distinction will become official on Feb. 19.

It will take place during the chamber’s annual meeting at the Village Conference Center from 6-8 p.m., and apparently, I have to give a speech, which I promise to anyone who will be attending will be a very short one.

The night will equally honor the Chelsea District Library as the 2014 Large Business Leadership Award winner, which is especially fun for me because from the start, the library and Chelsea Update have had a wonderful relationship.

To all of you who won’t be there, please know that I wouldn’t be standing there without your help. I believed that the Chelsea community wanted a news site that local folks could call their own and you proved that I was right. So, as I stand in front of a room full of people, heart pounding, two days before my 57th birthday, it’s you I will be saluting.

Chelsea Update would not be able to continue without the support of the many business owners who have advertised with me and the many community members who send me information and who have so generously donated to my efforts.

Here’s a list of those kind people who have supported me recently.

  • Susan Whitelaw
  • John Budinger
  • Jessica Flintoft
  • Denise Schuh
  • Larry and Kathy Miller
  • Barry and Kimberly Titus
  • Mary Green
  • Sharewords
  • Lynda Dettling
  • Edward Blissick
  • Danielle Clark
  • Edward and Anne Comeau
  • Jim and Mary Randolph
  • Mary Green

And, if you’d like to help me in my efforts, please make a donation of any amount to Chelsea Update and either do so through Paypal or send a check to Chelsea Update, 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea, MI 48118. Your help is very much appreciated.
