Recent obituary: David Leon Marable

Obit-photoDavid Leon Marable of Shelby Township, MI, died June 21, 2016 from injuries suffered in an automobile crash.

David was born October 17, 1946 in Detroit, MI to Leon and Dorothy (Klonowski) Marable.

Above all else, David loved and cared for his family and helped create some of their fondest memories.

Growing up, David and his brother Robert (Denise) were the “Marable Boys” often causing headaches for their mother, Dorothy. Despite this, they always remained a loving and close family who laughed and teased about the trouble they caused even decades later.

David graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in 1964, where he pursued his lifelong enjoyment of golf on the varsity team. Then in his freshman year at Michigan State University, David met the love of his life, Janet (Harris). They were married August 6, 1968.

From 1969-1970, David served in the Army’s 25th Infantry in Cu Chi, Vietnam.

David and Janet have three children and five grandchildren – Michael (Alison) Marable, parents of Madison and Logan; Ken (Diana) Marable, parents of Samantha, Owen, and Ella; and Christine (Michael) Mennel.

David was ever a source of joy and laughter in their lives with his “knee-slapper” bad jokes, comical stern-looks, and infectious Grinch-like grin.

He provided for his family by working in the automotive supply industry, advancing up to being Chief Financial Officer at L.E. Borden, from which he retired in 2009.
