Recent obituary: F. Daniel ‘Dan’ Ewald

Ewald,-Daniel-photoF. Daniel “Dan” Ewald of Chelsea, age 91, peacefully passed away at home, with his family, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1923 in Detroit, MI and was raised in Chelsea, MI. The son of Fred and Martha (Schenk) Ewald. On Nov. 1, 1947, he married his love, Clara (Miller) Ewald.

Dan was a World War II Veteran, who served as a US Marine from 1942-1946. He flew on the VMTB-131 Torpedo Bombing Squadron, on an A4 Skyhawk Aircraft.  He was also a gunner, on the SB2C Hell Diver.  Dan retired after 33 years from Dana Corp, as a Field Service Engineer. He was known to bring two pieces of paper to a meeting – one with the problem and one with the solution. He had a passion for: Fishing, Hunting, Golfing, and all things relating to nature and the outdoors, which he loved to share with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dan was also a great Artist and attended Saginaw Art School after returning home from the Service. He used his talent for many of his work presentations, community and family events.  He was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
