Recent obituary: Lawrence ‘Red’ A. Kruise, Jr.

kruise-lawrence-webLawrence “Red” A. Kruise, Jr. of Chelsea, passed away on October 21, 2016 at the age of 78 with family at his bedside.

A proud veteran, he served in the Navy from 1955-1959. He retired in 2004 after 40 years at Ford Motor Co., Rouge Plant, then Milan Plastic Plant as an electrician.  Red attended Baker College attaining a degree December 2001, Magna Cum Laude.

He was Past-President of Chelsea area chapter #5410 of the AARP. Red drove the Chelsea Community Hospital Shuttle.  He started a bowling league with fellow workers at the Rouge Plant.  As a member of the Chelsea Senior Center, Red loved playing Bridge and Euchre. He enjoyed several cruises with his wife and friends. Red loved having coached his sons in Little League Baseball and played men’s softball himself.

A memorial service and luncheon will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 1-3:30 p.m. at West Side United Methodist Church on 900 S. Seventh St. in Ann Arbor, MI. A private burial will take place in Vermont Cemetery, Chelsea.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Senior Center or the V.F.W. National Home in Eaton Rapids. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
