Shirley L. Gaken of Chelsea, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Chelsea Retirement Community.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1929, in Chelsea, MI, the daughter of August and Katherine (Eder) Dorer. On June 26, 1948, she married James L. Gaken in Chelsea, and preceded her in death in December 1995.
Shirley was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea and was also involved with the (former) Altar Society. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and keeping track of her family.
