The Chelsea Area Players have cast their upcoming winter dinner theater show and are rehearsing, “Let’s Murder Marsha” set for Feb. 20-22 in the hospital dining room.

Play times are 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 20-21 and at 1 p.m. on Feb. 22.

Janet Kuras is producing the three-act comedy.  The director is theater veteran Vicky Wurster, who has produced or directed 18 local plays.

“Let’s Murder Marsha” is the hilarious story of what happens when the wife of a Wall Street stockbroker overhears her husband planning her birthday surprise.  Misinterpreting what she hears, Marsha believes her husband plans to murder her.

Leigh Anne Beauchamp will play Marsha Gilmore, the title role. Beauchamp performed with her future husband, Ken, in the 1991 CAP production of “While the Lights Were Out” and most recently appeared in CAP’s 40th Anniversary show, “Captivating Rhythms” in 2012.

Chelsea resident Tim Farmer returns from last year’s CAP production of “Things My Mother Taught Me,” playing Marsha’s husband, Tobias Gilmore.  Farmer studied theater at Florida State University.

Kirsten Crockett plays Persis, the interior decorator with whom Marsha thinks her husband is having an affair. Crocket is a veteran actor who honed her skills at Bowling Green State University.

Norma Graflund returns to CAP after a 13-year sabbatical as Bianca, the maid.  This is Norma’s 21st CAP production.  Her previous performances have included roles in “The Music Man,” “Carousel” and “A Curious Savage.”

Former CAP president Clara Smith will play Marsha’s mother Lynette.  Usually behind the scenes, Smith has often played cameo roles in CAP productions such as the crazy neighbor in “The Seven Year Itch.”

Richie Slater will play Virgil, the neighbor Marsha turns to for help.  Slater is a local theater veteran, playing Finch in the Chelsea High School Theater Guild production of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and Josh in the Dexter Community Players production of “Big.”

Gilluame Croussement who plays Ben, Bianca’s boyfriend, is new to CAP but not performing.  Crossment’s considerable theater experience involves performances in many classics by French playwrights.

Tickets are available now at Chelsea Pharmacy.
