Reminder about Dec. 1 Chelsea Friends and Family Wellness Coalition grant deadline

This is a reminder that the Chelsea Friends and Family Wellness Coalition has set a Dec. 1 deadline for grant applications to fund projects and programs that will help create a culture of wellness in Chelsea.

The coalition, one of five that the Chelsea Area Wellness Foundation has empowered in each of the “5 Healthy Towns” it serves, is made up of community members and organizations that meet monthly to work together to support initiatives that will help Chelsea

  • Move More
  • Eat Better
  • Connect with Others
  • Avoid unhealthy substances

“We’re interested in projects and programs, both large and small, that can help people think twice about their lifestyle,” said coalition member Shawn Personke. “Initiatives should fit into our overall plan that focuses on changing the habits, behaviors and cultural norms of the Chelsea community by incrementally promoting healthier lifestyle choices.”

Included in the past projects that have been funded are the Intergenerational Garden, Healthy Town Square, Volunteer Chelsea, Safe Routes to Schools, SRSLY, Chelsea Farmer’s Markets, the Community Read, the Food Education Series, and Run for the Rolls.

New projects for 2015 should focus on one or more of the above elements, and should also be measurable, demonstrate fiscal responsibility, and have an important impact on Friends and Family Wellness.
