The Sister City Association of Chelsea Michigan, Inc. is dedicated to promoting friendship between two small towns on opposite sides of the globe. The intent is to further international understanding that contributes to goodwill, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
Groups of 7th and 8th graders from Chelsea and from Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan, have visited one another’s countries since 1994, staying with host families, learning local traditions, and nurturing friendships with other teens and their families.
This summer, five Chelsea Beach Middle School students are participating in the exchange program.If you would like to help support their trip by ordering amazing pulled pork from Smokehouse 52 in Chelsea, please submit a completed order form to one of the Chelsea school offices by Wednesday, April 26 at 9 a.m. For more information about the exchange program, please visit http://chelsea-shimizu.org.
