Reward offered for arrest and conviction in coin theft from Chelsea Antique Mall

A $500 reward has now been offered for the arrest and conviction of the person who broke into the Chelsea Antique Mall and stole about $3,000 in coins.

The break-in and theft took place sometime after 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 or early in the morning on Monday, Aug. 19, police said.

Not only did the intruder steal the coins but also the person destroyed the showcase by prying it open. And smashed a glass door at the mall.

The thief broke in from the north side through a glass door said Ed Greenleaf, owner of the Antique Mall.

Taken were Morgan silver dollars (pictured above), half dollars, an American Eagle silver dollar, large pennies dating from 1830-1850, Indian Head pennies dating from 1890-1909, Wheat pennies dating from 1910-1935, ‘V’ nickels dating from 1883-1920, Buffalo head nickels dating from 1921-1937, and silver dimes dating from 1894-1964
