Richard Lawrence wins Chelsea Kiwanis Club raffle

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Joe Scheuring for the information in this story.)

The winner of the Chelsea Kiwanis Club raffle, a week in Grand Cayman, is Richard Lawrence of Whitmore Lake.

It is interesting that Lawrence is also the principle of a non-profit organization “Kid’s Wings.” A few years ago, he presented a program at one of the Kiwanis meetings about his organization, said Joe Scheuring.

As stated on the www.Kidswings.org web site:

“Kid’s Wings provides free air transportation to those in financial need and in medical need of treatment at distant facilities and for whom commercial air transportation is either unaffordable or impractical.”

“Making a difference a few people at a time,” is central to their mission.

It is great that someone who gives back to the community so freely should be the recipient of our raffle prize, Scheuring said.

In honor of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7, the Kiwanis Club will not have a meeting. However, they will be organizing a punt, pass and kick competition on Sept. 18.
