The Rotary Club of Chelsea held its second annual golf outing on Aug. 8 at Reddeman Farms to benefit the Cancer Center at St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.

Fifty-three golfers participated in the event, which raised $7,500.

“We had a lot of fun,” said outing participant Jason Garrison. “The golf, food, and company were terrific, as were the putting games after the event. We’ll definitely be back next year.”

Every golfer participating in the event had a shot at cash prizes for a hole-in-one, longest drive, closest to the pin, and a 50-foot putt, which one lucky golfer sank and walked away $5,000 richer. Five other golfers won $100-200 each.

“It was a great event, and it was exciting to see my dad win $5,000 on the 50-foot putt,” said Rotary Club member and event sponsor, Kari Newman.

“The weather was perfect, and I think everyone had a great time,” said Rotary member Reiley Curran.

The proceeds for the event will be split between the Chelsea Rotary Foundation and the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Cancer Center.
