Joseph Norwood, a Boy Scout in Chelsea Troop 454, is working on his Eagle Scout project of building a new bike rack at Chelsea High School because the current bike rack is in disrepair.

“My goal isn’t just to replace the current bike rack at my school though, but to promote more people biking to and from my school,” he said in an email, adding, “Every student and teacher, who bikes to my school, will greatly benefit and will no longer need to worry about the safety of their bike.”

“My school doesn’t have the funds to purchase a new bike rack and all of the donations will go into purchasing the bike rack and the necessary supplies to install it,” Norwood said.

He is working with Chelsea High School Principal Mike Kapolka to make this dream a reality, Norwood said.

He hopes to raise the $800 he needs for the Eagle Scout project by Nov. 1.
