Sept. 18: Chelsea Kiwanis to hear from Jesse Kauffman of SRSLY

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

This Monday, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club will hear from Jesse Kauffman of the SRSLY Coalition. We look forward to an update on their activities to reduce drug use among our young people, especially with the current opioid addiction crisis and possible marijuana legalization.

Last week’s speakers from the Veterans Honor Guard of Washtenaw County explained the entire process that takes place during the veteran’s funeral. In 2017, they have performed 107 ceremonies. These were just for service members lost from Washtenaw County whose next of kin requested the service.  The service is free of charge.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
