Sept. 21: K’s Acres Wednesday Bushel Basket Farmers Market featured vendor

ks-acres-vK’s Acres Orchard started in 2006, specializing in fruits and berries.

They are located in Hillsdale County, at 4680 Fitzpatrick Road in Hillsdale.

K’s Acres has red, yellow and black raspberries (coming soon), and ever bearing strawberries that produce fruit May through December.

In the summer, they have blueberries, and multiple peach varieties that are available through October. They also feature several plum varieties, mostly Japanese hybrids including the World Famous Bubble Gum Plum.

It is currently Apple Fest at K’s Acres Orchard, with over 60 kids of apples, most of which are Heritage or Antique. They have several types from the birth place of the Honey Crisp, Minnesota, and one apple which is an Original Johnny Apple Seed Apple. His birthday and the festival are this weekend.

The Wednesday Bushel Basket Farmers Market offers folks a mid-week opportunity to shop for fresh and local products at the Palmer parking lot from 2-6 p.m.

Please keep in mind that sometimes the vendors are unable to make the market or the products they plan to have are not available.

Mark’s Farm: maple syrup, cabbage, kale, Swiss chard, broccoli, beets, sweet onions, cooking onions, shallots, garlic, potatoes, hot and sweet peppers, zucchini, sun-ripened in the field tomatoes, winter squash, watermelon.

Golden Fleece Farm: Grass fed beef, patties, ground round, bones, eggs, steaks, sirloin, ribeye, porterhouse, T-bone, pastured raised chicken, beef liver.

Kapnick Orchards: Baked goods, fudge, nut butters, bread, donuts, freestone peaches, nectarines, pears, Paula red and ginger gold, and gala apples.

Stone Hearth Bakery: assorted artisan breads all baked from scratch with no preservatives, hot dog buns, cookies – check out the new sugar cookies, triple chocolate chunk brownies, fruit breads, including red raspberry, strawberry, wild blueberry, apple, cinnamon raison, 4-cheese pepperoni rolls, 4-cheese habanero pepperoni rolls (both two to a pack).

Lutchka Angus: honey, winter squash, cabbage, zucchini, eggplant, redskin potatoes, cukes – large and small, Yukon gold potatoes, hot and sweet peppers, patty-pan squash, sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, salad cukes, beets, tomatoes.

Family Circle Centennial Farm:  honey, maybe microgreens, basil, rosemary and thyme, garlic, gift certificates, T-shirts and bags, maybe radishes, maybe summer squash, tomatoes, onions, cukes, maybe beans, maybe eggplant, winter squash.

Needle Lane Farm:  kale, chard, okra, herbs, eggplant, hot peppers, green onions, basil, sweet peppers, tomatoes, honey, pole beans, dragon tongue beans, tomatillo, shitake mushrooms.

Pregitzer Farm Market.  Herbs, veggies, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, summer squash, cucumbers, beans, broccoli, sweet corn, cauliflower, tomatoes, peppers, kale, watermelon.

Bordine Farms: cut flowers

Janet’s LLC: cards, jams, nuts, pretzels, dolls, sweets, dried fruit and nuts, Dammit dolls, caramel corn, lemon eucalyptus lotion, herb rub.

HumusFalafil: hummus, falafel and baklava
