This Monday, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club will hear from Rick Boham, Chelsea Community Fair Board president. Members are excited to review the highlights of another successful fair as the Chelsea club has had a cooperative relationship with their members for many, many years.

Last week, Rebecca Jaskot substituted for Jesse Kauffman and outlined SRSLY‘s efforts to reduce drug and alcohol abuse in area youth.

Recently SRSLY has worked to influence area government officials to avoid adopting any measure that would permit the marijuana industry to open dispensaries. She cited evidence that drug use has increased in states where legalization has occurred and that marijuana is still illegal under federal law.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
