(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story. Be please note change of speaker.)

On Sunday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m., the Chelsea Kiwanis Club will meet at at St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea hospital dining room to plan the club’s budget. The club’s fiscal year begins on Oct. 1.

In the past, Kiwanis has made a provision at this meeting for the groups and activities we have supported for many years, (such as scouts, preschool scholarships, and the Bring Up Grades program).

The club also allows for undesignated funds, which are available to individuals and groups in the community for use in a project or activity of local benefit, especially for children.

Normally, written requests come to us via Post Office Box 61, and are considered at our monthly board meetings.

On Monday, club members will hear from Gretchen Steele from the Chelsea Athletic Boosters. Kiwanis and the boosters have had a long, cooperative, and successful relationship, renting them our food concession trailer for home football games to augment their own concession building, and providing foodstuffs and supplies at our special cost prices throughout the school year.

We look forward to her comments on their plans for 2016-17.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
