Fourteen more 7th-12th grade “Shopping Buddies” are needed on Dec. 6 from 12-3 p.m. during the Children’s Christmas Bazaar.

Shopping Buddies assist younger children as they select, wrap, and pay for gifts for their families. Youth may shop for their own families after their shift ends, and they will be given a volunteer service hours letter that can be turned in to their school for service credit.

Sign up to volunteer here.

There are also still a few shopping appointments for children 4 years – 6th grade from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Children love the excitement of purchasing and wrapping gifts for loved ones and keeping the surprise until Christmas. Parents complete shopping envelopes so children know whom to shop for and how much they can spend, and youth from the community help children select, wrap, and pay for gifts.

Space is limited and registration is required here.

In addition, this is the 2nd Annual Christmas Bazaar Shopping Event for Children with Special Needs on Thursday, Dec. 4 5:30-7:30 p.m.

An early shopping session of the bazaar will be offered again this year for children 4 years and older with special needs. Children can shop in a quieter setting with an adult buddy or with their own parent.

The Children’s Christmas Bazaar is designed to provide a fun shopping experience for children and help them understand that meaningful gifts don’t need to cost a lot of money.

All items for sale are handmade or locally made, and each costs $5 or less and it is not a fundraiser.  Many people from our community donate their time and talents throughout the year to create thousands of items, and net proceeds provide scholarship shopping opportunities for children served by Faith in Action.

The event is held and sponsored by Chelsea First United Methodist Church, 128 Park St., across from The Purple Rose Theater.
