Coalition meeting
Although the Chelsea District Schools are on spring break next week, for those staying in town, there will be a SRSLY coalition meeting on Thursday, April 10 from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m.

It will be a little different than the usual coalition meetings as it will take place at the Chelsea Community Hospital – Atrium Conference Room B.

There will be free lunch and the group will meet with a project officer for SRSLY’s federal grant and share who and what SRSLY is.

Did you know?
Did you know that medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental poisoning?

Just as disturbing, are the alarmingly high rates of prescription drug abuse among teens.  A National study, conducted last year by The Partnership at Drugfree.org and the MetLife Foundation, found that 49 percent of teens who misuse or abuse prescription medicines get them from a family member or friend.

More often than not, these drugs are found in our medicine cabinets.

This year’s U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Take-Back Day will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

But, you don’t have to wait until April 26 to dispose of your old medications. Stop by the Red Barrel at the Chelsea Police Department and get rid of them any time.

Project Voice
For the last two years, youth from SRSLY have been invited to present at a state-wide youth conference called Project Voice, which is hosted by the School Community Health Alliance of Michigan.

SRSLY will be presenting again later this month on having a positive impact on your community.

CTZNs of the Month
Susan Frederick and Peter Warburton, were named the February CTZNs of the Month.

Frederick of Salon Rushelle, with the help of previous CTZN of the Month, Nicole Chapman, offered free hair and make-up services to all the duct tape models at the Duct Tape Fashion Show. Salon Rushelle’s participation in the fashion show really takes the event to the next level.

Also helping to make the fashion show a blast was Duct Tape Artist and former Beach Middle School Counselor Warburton. He helped keep the show fun and moving along as the emcee.
