A special land use application and site plan approval application for St. Vladimir Russian Orthodox Church were tabled by the Lima Township Planning Commission at its May 22 meeting.

Because there were still outstanding items including a perpetual care agreement, more specifics needed about an easement, and questions about the landscape plan, the commission felt it would be better to wait until these items were all addressed.

“I’d like to move this forward to line up construction,” said Father Gregory Joyce from St. Vladimir Church.

“We’re all committed to moving forward on this,” said Paul Montagno, a planner for consultant Carlisle Wortman.

The commission will discuss the application at its June 26 meeting. The church hopes to have a classroom trailer and a new cemetery in the near future.

Following a public hearing, the planning commission unanimously (Bill Coltre absent) voted to amend a zoning ordinance regarding the township’s sanctions for violations. That application will now go to the township board.
