This year’s Material Girls Children’s Christmas Bazaar will be held Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. during Hometown Holidays.

The Children’s Christmas bazaar is designed to provide a fun shopping experience for children and help them understand that meaningful gifts don’t need to cost a lot of money. All gifts are hand-crafted and sell for $1 to $5.

Two shifts of 6th-12th grade “Shopping Buddies” are needed to assist children as they select, wrap, and pay for gifts for their families.

Shift hours are 9:15 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. and 11:45 a.m.- 3 p.m. Training will be provided for the first 30 minutes.

Volunteer perks include:
Students may shop for their own families after their shifts ends, and they will receive a Volunteer Service Hours thank you letter that can be turned in to their schools for service hours credit. Pizza and snacks will be provided for students who sign up for both shifts.

To sign up: Students can sign up to work with friends, family, members of their club, or sports team by going to

Adult volunteers are also needed. Please sign up to help by going to

The bazaar is not a fundraiser. Many people from our community donate their time and talents throughout the year to create the gifts. All profits from the bazaar will be given to Faith in Action.

This event is held and sponsored by Chelsea First United Methodist Church, 128 Park St., across from the Purple Rose Theatre.
