Three Beach swimmers win medals at middle school states

Twelve members of the Beach Middle School Swim Team participated in the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (MISCA) State Invitational held at Holt High School last weekend.

The meet hosted more than 50 teams from around the state who competed for individual places with no team scores kept.

Seventh grader Isabella Turner led the way with her 2nd place finish in the 50 freestyle with a personal best time of 25.75. She was 4th in the 100 freestyle with another best time of 56.11.

Parker Olk was 10th in both the 100 freestyle and the diving event. He had a personal best time of 59.70 in the 100 freestyle and scored 138.65 points in diving.

Molly Jacobson was also a medal winner with her 16th place in diving and her score of 127.10.

In the boy’s meet, Olk was joined by Landen Collins, Jared Atkinson, and Ben Schwarz in the 200 freestyle relay where their season best time of 1:57.25 was 28th.

The same foursome had another season best performance in the 400 freestyle where their time of 4:23.41.

For the girls, Turner was joined by Hannah Harmes, Chelsea Paddock, and Katie Leissner for their season best time of 2:15.47 and 25th in the 200 medley relay. Kate Gaiser then joined Turner, Paddock and Leissner for 22nd in the 200 freestyle relay with their season best time of 1:57.83.
