What can be better than a delicious lunch prepared by Wesley’s Catering and served on uniquely decorated tables?

The fifth annual Festival of Tables will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27 to satisfy your imagination and your appetite. Tickets go on sale today, Jan. 11. Get them early as they sell out fast.

The Festival of Tables is a fundraiser to support the Chelsea Senior Center, but it’s an event enjoyed by all ages. Various community members, groups, and businesses will once again decorate tables with unique themes.

The lineup for this year includes fun themes such as “Fine Feathered Friends”, “Superheroes Save the Day”, “Let There Be Peace on Earth”, “McDonald Collector’s Club”, and “Have a Coke and a Smile” to name a few. This fabulous community event is a great opportunity for local groups and businesses to decorate a table that features their mission and creativity.

Among those represented this year will be Friends of the Library, Garden Mill, Chelsea Community Kitchen and Farmers Market, Material Girls, Chelsea Artists Guild, and StoryPoint Retirement Communities.

Denise Cugliari is a local resident and has been a Festival of Tables participant every year. Her imagination has created tables with themes like “Mad Hatters Tea Party” and this year, her table will feature the “Wizard of Oz”.

According to Sharon Pignanelli, chairperson of this annual event, “Denise’s creativity every year is over the top. It’s really hard to describe or capture the imagination behind all of these decorated tables. You really have to see them in person to understand how awesome they are.”

The event this year will be held at a new location – the First United Methodist Church on Park Street. Event tickets must be purchased in advance at the Chelsea Senior Center. The $20 ticket includes a delicious lunch and a chance to vote for your favorite table.

Of course, as a fundraiser, additional voting tickets may be purchased to “stuff the ballot box.” Doors will open at 11 a.m. for viewing and voting on the different themed tables, with lunch served at noon.

All proceeds from this event help support the Chelsea Senior Center, a 501(c) 3 non-profit. The Center’s mission is to promote, encourage, and organize activities that address the physical, social, and emotional concerns of Chelsea area senior citizens and their families.

The Chelsea Senior Center is located in the Washington Street Education Center at 512 E. Washington St. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
