Tom McKernan, candidate for Sylvan Township supervisor, plans meet and greets

Tom McKernan recently filed as a Republican candidate for Sylvan Township supervisor in the Aug 2 primary election where he will be on the ballot challenging current Supervisor Scott Cooper.

He plans to be at the Chelsea Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, and at Seitz Tavern between 7-8 p.m. on Thursday nights to meet township residents.

He has a website www.votemckernan.com and a Facebook page www.fb.com/votemckernan for more information.

McKernan can be reached at 734-546-2709 or by email: [email protected].

The candidate recently spoke to township residents at a meet and greet, telling those present he grew up on his family’s centennial farm in the township, attended Chelsea Schools, and graduated from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University.

His career path as a pharmacist took him to several different states before he returned to his hometown 10 years ago.

McKernan said he sees the current problems facing the future of Sylvan Township as a challenge he is willing to tackle and believes his business experience will serve him well with “the annual budgeting process, skillful problem solving, strategic planning for the future and communicating with constituents and adjacent communities.”

He said he would work diligently as “a consensus and bridge builder” to gain the confidence of both the township citizens, as well as leaders of the adjoining communities.
