University of Michigan Museum of Art presents

(Publisher’s note: These events are taking place in Ann Arbor, but I picked a few that I thought that they might be of interest to folks looking for something different to do with their children.)

Storytime at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) on Saturday, Nov. 11, 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The program promotes art enjoyment for the youngest patrons. Children ages 3-6 are invited to join in on some children’s fun, hear a story, and do a short activity responding to the art on display.

Parents must accompany children and siblings are welcome to join the group. Meet in front of the UMMA Store, 525 South State St. in Ann Arbor.

Also of interest, Victors for Art: Michigan’s Alumni Collectors—Part II: Abstraction through Nov. 26 at the Irving Stenn, Jr. Family Gallery, 525 South State St., Ann Arbor.

Commemorating the University of Michigan’s 2017 Bicentennial, Victors for Art: Michigan’s Alumni Collectors celebrates the deep impact of Michigan alumni in the global art world.

This two-part exhibition presents works collected by a diverse group of alumni that represent the breadth of the University and over 70 years of graduating classes.

The final part of the Museum’s year-long Victor’s for Art exhibition presents Random International’s LED-light and motion-sensing dynamic sculpture, Swarm Study/II.

Visitors are invited to experience and engage with Swarm Study/II outside the State Street windows of the Irving Stenn, Jr. Family Gallery.

Gallery hours are Tues–Sat 11 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 12–5 p.m., closed on Mondays. Store hours are Mon–Sat 11 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 12–5 p.m.
