On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Chelsea Kiwanis Club members delivered nearly more than 1,600 holiday cards that will go to veterans and our troops overseas by the Washtenaw County Red Cross.

The cards were made or bought by community members and signed with personal messages to those who are currently serving or have previously served.  It was a community-wide effort, with cards being donated from Chelsea’s preschoolers, elementary and high school students.

Cards were also received from community organizations such as Kitchi Tae Kwon Do, Chelsea Senior Center, Chelsea Boy Scouts, Chelsea Key Club, Dexter’s Key Club, and the U-M Circle K Club.

Many individuals also contributed to our project. In fact, one bundle of cards came from a woman in Ohio who saw the article on Chelsea Update and described herself as a ‘Chelsea wanna-be’.

Thank you to the entire Chelsea community and the surrounding communities for giving our service men and women a bit of holiday cheer.
