Last weekend, Beach Middle School volleyball competed and hosted an 8th grade tournament. Several area teams attended and 8Gold had a great day on the court. The team dominated its pool play matches vs Lincoln, Jackson and Monroe landing as the #1 seed going into bracket play.
Several key players were responsible for the 6 undefeated pool play wins and fighting their way through bracket play. Outside hitter Sloane Steele crushed it at the net along with soft hands of setters Fiona Borchberding and Makayla McClanahan who logged many assists. Multiple balls never returned once it touched the hands of this trio along with the help of digs from Libero Scarlett Delong.
This lineup had extremely consistent hard serving which also was a main factor for the Bulldog success. When rallies were longer, teammates Coralynn Bollinger, Baylee Kuck, Elena Reginaldo, and Ansley Ahlstrom were there for the team and pulled off amazing touches at the net, great passing in the back row and chipped in with some rocket hard serving.
Chelsea 8Gold did not panic when it lost its first set of bracket play vs Pinckney and they came back stronger to take set 2 and set 3 for the match win pushing their way into the finals. They faced off against the tough Chelsea 8Blue team in the finals, went 3 exciting sets to win the match and finish in 1st place.
Other teammates that assisted during the long day of competitive play were Lila Keeler, Ashlyn Monsma, Isabel Luick, Kiera Day, Mia Kloos, Celia Kwaske, and Sophia Grobsmith. The event was filled with many challenges but countless smiles and a ton of opportunities for these young volleyball players to show what they can do on the court.
The future is strong for Chelsea.
