Chelsea Church of the Nazarene members had their prayers answered recently as they were able to hire a Student Ministries Pastor for the first time since the church was founded.

Pastor Jeff Crowder and the Church Board have been searching for the ideal Pastoral candidate to lead the Chelsea Naz Youth for a while now, as youth involvement has increased in the past 5 years.

Crowder explains that Pastor Chelsea MacAdam “gives kids a sense of who they are by getting to know their Creator in tangible ways.”

He said that MacAdam has been a “ great addition to the church by continuing to add on to the mission statement of Growing, Reaching, and Serving Together As Followers of Jesus Christ.”

MacAdam said, “ I love teens and have found that serving them, preaching to them, teaching them, and loving them is where God provides the most fruit in my world.”

MacAdam has outlined how she will lead the youth in our community through a Mission of Spirituality that includes four main components:

1)Integrity – respect, acceptance, and The Golden Rule

2) Acceptance – accepting everyone for who they are and can become through Biblical principles

3) Health – feeding a youth’s mind and body with healthy substances

4) Legacy – values and principles to be carried on for generations.

She is reaching out to leaders in the community to invite any young person in Grades 6-12 to attend the youth groups, regardless of their religious background. A few groups took place in December and included an ugly Christmas sweater party with an ice cream sandwich buffet.

Pastor MacAdam, a 27 year old originally from Sylvania, Ohio moved to Michigan in 2013 to attend Eastern Michigan University for elementary education and then high school education. She decided to pursue her career in Student Ministries, to follow her passion of teaching, preaching, and leading teens to their Creator.

She is licensed with the Church of the Nazarene. She has served in churches in Dundee and Northville as well.

MacAdam has been a true catalyst in gathering volunteers to update the youth meeting room. It is a stunning, comfortable gathering place designed specifically for teens. No classroom seating here. Just a very young, cool, hip, fun youth pastor who appears as if she is a modern-day Pied Piper.

She always has kids following her around the church campus , a true kid magnet. She is in the process of adopting a newborn baby girl, named Lorelei Lynn.

MacAdam moved to Chelsea in the Fall of 2018 stating that she “wanted to live in the community in which she is serving and to break bread with them, too.”

The Chelsea Church of the Nazarene Youth Groups are held on Wednesday evenings, from 6:45 p.m.- 8 p.m. for all youth in grades 6-12. The church is located at 12126 Jackson Road.

The office phone is 734-475-2526 and the church’s website is www.chelseanazarene.org.

A special event that is just around the corner is “Game Night”, which takes place at the church on Friday, Jan. 25 from 7-9 pm. To RSVP for this special event call or text MacAdam at 419-490-7116.
