Dear Chelsea Community Fair-Goers:
Typically, this week we should be staffing our concession trailer serving you the best knocks in the world, both with or without. But this is not a typical year or fair week. We will miss seeing all of your happy and expectant faces as you approach the trailer to place your orders.
An important consequence of missing the fair (and the July Sounds and Sights Festival Weekend) is the club lost the majority of its revenue stream for this coming year. The entirety of the net proceeds from these trailer sales are pumped back into the Chelsea community supporting myriad organizations and activities.
Over $30,000 is budgeted each year to support Chelsea Public Schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Faith in Action, Chelsea Senior Center … and many more. Our budget this year included 45 line items of funding directed back to the community. Though we do have a modest reserves, many of these line items will be in jeopardy this coming year without additional support from the community.
Last fall the club experimented with a canned nut and candy sale, replacing the decades-old citrus fruit sale. The experiment was successful – the products were well liked by the community and the club raised some additional funds.
We are happy to announce our 2020 sale nut and candy sale. Beginning in early November, club members will have cans of mixed nuts and chocolate candies for sale, with all of the net proceeds going back into our community budget.
The can size and weight of the Gourmet Nuts will remain the same at 36 ounces. There will be a few more Pistachios and a few less Almonds in the mix. The premium quality Cashews, natural and blanched Almonds, Pecans, Brazils and Pistachios are delicately roasted and lightly seasoned with sea salt.
The Delicious Delights 7-way tin will remain the same as last year. The chocolate-coated delights are freshly produced in mid-October. The assortment includes both dark and milk chocolate covered nuts, raisins, and pretzels.
The price this year will be $25 per can for either product. All club members will be able to sell and deliver cans on the spot starting in November. If local businesses are interested in helping by being a sales outlet, please let us know.

PS: If you are interested in purchasing our frozen knockwurst or hot dogs for a virtual fair experience in your own backyard, let us know. Knocks are $30 for 5 pounds; hot dogs come in a 10-pound box for $35. We might even share our secret recipe for the sauerkraut.

The knock wursts are brought in from the East side of the state and are delicious. Always a high point of the fair to get them with sauerkraut! Hope to see you next year!
