(Chelsea Update would like to thank Katie Doral for the information in this story.)

The Purple Rose Theatre Company is thrilled to bring the bittersweet comedy, Annapurna by Sharr White for its first production of the theater’s 24th season.

What if you had experienced the defining moment of your life – but couldn’t remember it?

Sharr White’s heartfelt and remarkable play, Annapurna, deals with that dilemma and the unpredictable eccentricities of love. Named for the Himalayan Mountain, marriage can be just that kind of peak; we are compelled to make the climb, but not all of us survive the journey intact.

Join the cast for this bittersweet comedy by one of America’s most vibrant and lyrical new playwrights.  Annapurna contains adult language and themes.

The play will have a 14-week engagement from Thursday, Sept. 18 – Saturday, Dec. 20. There will be seven low-priced previews from Thursday, Sept. 18 – Wednesday, Sept. 24, with press opening on Friday, Sept. 26. Regular performances for the duration of the run are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with Saturday matinees at 3 p.m. and Wednesday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Directed by PRTC Artistic Director, Guy Sanville, the cast includes Richard McWilliams (Dayton, Ohio) and Michelle Mountain (Grass Lake).

Underwriting support for the season comes from The Ford Motor Company Fund, The Hamp Family Fund, and the Matilda R. Wilson Fund. Production sponsorship for Annapurna comes from Chelsea State Bank. Media Sponsors include Michigan Radio, ChelseaMich.com, Detroit Public Television, and Applied Storytelling.

All performances will be held at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park St.

Tickets are available for purchase by calling 433-7673 or online here.
