April 22: Silver Solutions Network to hold employment matching event at Spring Expo

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Maurine Nelson for the information in this story.)

Following the successful Silver Solutions Network round table discussion about volunteer opportunities in February, the new organization is focusing on matching senior retirees with employment possibilities.

Volunteer connections will continue on March 31 at 1:30 p.m., with a visit to the Chelsea Area Historical Society, 128 Jackson St., across from The Depot.

Plus, there will be match opportunities between organizations and individuals at the Chelsea Spring Expo, on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center, 512 Washington St.

The senior center is providing free booths to nonprofit groups in a separate new nonprofit area at the annual spring event.

“This will be sort of a speed-dating match event,” said Maurine Nelson who along with Dick Dice developed the new networking program. “Come and join in the fun to learn about openings in various organizations.”

Meanwhile Dice has been contacting businesses that are looking for part-time employees and found that there are openings available.

The positive response to the first network event not only indicates the continuing need for volunteer matches in Chelsea, but also invigorates the community by making use of the marvelous resource “seniorhood” provides.

For more information call the Senior Center at 734-475-9242 or contact Nelson at [email protected] or Dice at [email protected].
