April 23: Garden Mill celebrates Earth Day with free white pine seedlings

free-tree-from-Garden-Mill(Chelsea Update would like to thank Jennifer Fairfield for the information in this story.)

Be one of the first 50 people in the Garden Mill on Saturday, April 23 and receive a free White Pine seedling.

This year, Earth Day is launching an effort to plant 7.8 billion trees over the next five years, and we want to help. So, we’re offering a free tree seedling – Michigan’s State Tree, the Eastern White Pine.

For more information about the Earth Day tree planting initiative, click here.

In addition to the tree giveaway, we will also be donating a portion of the day’s proceeds to the Intergenerational Garden at the Chelsea Senior Center.

The garden is a cooperative effort between members of the Senior Center and the Chelsea School District that relies on donations, grants and volunteers. In addition to providing educational opportunities for gardeners of all ages and skill levels, the garden provides produce for the Senior Center lunch program during the summer and the school cafeterias during the school year.
