It will be a sleepless night for a good cause at Chelsea High School April 6-7 from 11 p.m.- 7 a.m.
Students who raise at least $25 will be able to attend their own version of the University of Michigan’s Victorthon Dance Marathon to raise funds for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
CHS student co-chair junior Keegan Van Batavia, a member of student council, was invited to speak at the U-M event April 1 about the development of CHS’s MiniVictorthon.
“The choice to conduct our own MiniVictorthon derived from our student council,” said Van Batavia, who is working with student council member and co-chair Lia Spink. “My role is to maintain a steady pace in the planning of events. I’ve been a part of MiniVictorthon before, so I pass my knowledge and experience to the younger high school class event chairs.”
A dance hour along with games and arts and crafts will help the night pass for the CHS students at the 8-hour event, which is completely student led.
Batavia says the goal is to have as many as 250 students involved in the MiniVictorthon this year.
