At Silver Maples: Kite Network program on peer group grief counseling

Silver Maples of Chelsea will host a presentation by The Kite Network, a Washtenaw County non-profit organization dedicated to helping people through many forms of grief through peer counseling, on Wednesday, May 29, at 10:30 a.m.

According to information about the event, when Julie and Doug Stotlar lost their 6-year-old daughter, Lauren, in March of 2000, they learned first-hand that grief is not an illness, and that all loss deserves support.

To honor her memory, they started the Kite Network, which matches volunteers from the community, who have traveled on their own personal grief journeys, with others who may be experiencing a similar type of grief.

The organization provides training for the peer counselors, led by trained social workers.

Silver Maples is located at 100 Silver Maples Dr.
